Charlotte is the largest city in the United States without a major professional regional theatre on the scale of the country's great ensemble companies.
The Emergent exists to help build that missing artistic home. We believe actors do their strongest work when they grow together over time, audiences deserve ambitious and emotionally honest theatre, and lasting companies are built through sustained artistic relationships rather than individual productions.
